I went to see the movie "Secretariat" twice. I think it is the best movie I've ever seen. I was just out of high school when Secretariat won the Triple Crown. I remember hearing about it, but didn't pay alot of attention to those things then. After seeing the movie I wish I would have paid more attention. I also remember hearing years later that the horse had to be euthanized. I remember feeling sad for him. I love all animals. I would recommend the movie to everyone. It is a "feel good" movie that inspires you. The ending with "Oh Happy Day" playing is the greatest! I went out to get the book the movie was based on so I could learn more about this amazing horse that is still touching people's lives and hearts after so many years.

I just finished reading the book "Secretariat" by William Nack. I have yet to see the movie. Indeed, Big Red personified the best of his species and of thoroughbred horseracing. I hope to someday visit Claiborne Farms and pay homage to the Super Horse. I'm a fan and always will be.

Could you please forward this note to Ms. Penny Chenery Tweedy.

Dear Ms. Penny Chenery Tweedy,

My name is Grace Mueller and I am a senior in high school. I love horses and have for as long as I can remember! My family and I had seen the movie trailer for "Secretariat." And as a horse lover could not wait for it to come out!
As soon as we had a spare night, we all went to the theaters. It was the best horse movie I had ever seen. The story, your story, was so inspiring. I can't even imagine trying to keep a house running and getting a horse ready for the triple crown. I have always wanted to be a mom but, I also have many other big aspirations. You gave me hope that it is possible to do both. Thank you! 🙂

Most Respectfully,

Grace L. Mueller

I have always been a fan of this wonderful horse. I saw the movie "Secretariat" yesterday and understand why anyone would be a fan of this wonderful horse. It is a very moving story and I would recommend that everyone who loves thoroughbred horses should see it. I applaud Penney Tweedy for her courage and for standing up for what she believed.

I am an absolute lover of horses. I think they are the most beautiful creatures on this planet. I have always had a fascination with horses. I think this came from my mom's love of them. We are not horse people, just horse lovers. I know my mom used to ride, but I think it was just for pleasure. I have seen pictures of her on horseback. I used to ride when I was a small child.. neighborhood riding stables. We would ride trails . I am not able to ride now due to a very serious back problem. I just love them. I saw Seabiscuit when it came out and wouldn't miss Secretariat. My heart goes out to all people that work with horses, whether owners, riders, stable hands or whoever works with God's creatures. Thank you for this wonderful movie. He was absolutely breathtaking. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

In 1974, I began my freshman year at Randolph-Macon College, just a few miles south of The Meadow. More than once I drove out Rt. 30 past the farm and dreamed of touching Secretariat. I would have given anything to just inhale his breath and have him inhale mine. My goodness, what a horse! I was at a race party with my college cronies when Secretariat ran The Belmont. Watching the race on TV, I was afraid he might fade in such a long race, having taken such an early lead. Most of my friends (not being horse people) had no clue as to why I was so worried. I'll never forget feeling the hair raising on my arms as I saw him begin to pull away from Sham and was overwhelmed with love & admiration as Secretariat turned on this amazing burst of power and speed as the distance he took in the lead became increasing larger. As Secretariat crossed the finish, I had tears streaming down my cheeks, resulting from the awe and inspiration I gained from this horse's incredible will and amazing physical prowess which allowed him to win by some incredible distance of 31 lengths. Wow, what a horse! What an experience to have been able to witness a horse like Secretariat in my lifetime. Thank you for breeding this incredible horse and sharing his talent with the rest of the world.
