Secretariat Ltd. Edition Bronze by Liza Todd Tivey

Description

In 1987, sculptor Liza Todd Tivey first portrayed Secretariat in bronze form as a foal alongside his famed dam Somethingroyal. Tivey then sculpted Secretariat once again as a stallion at Claiborne Farm following his death in 1989. The classic conformation piece shown here was produced in an edition of 75 total castings, each measuring 14” long  and standing 11.5” tall on a finely crafted wood base. The popular edition has long since sold out and is now coveted by collectors and racing fans alike.

Tivey, the daughter of legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor, is renowned in her own right for her equine artistry including her bronze editions of famous racing champions. Along with Secretariat, Tivey’s other notable commissions include Northern Dancer, Seattle Slew, John Henry, and a half life-size memorial of Nashua for Spendthrift Farm.
