Secretariat.com is delighted to offer a very limited inventory of these impressive trading cards paying tribute to legendary 1973 Triple Crown champion and his famed associates. Enjoy this popular selection from the Golden Age collection featuring a full-color illustrated depiction of the Meadow team subject on the front, and the accompanying historical information on the back. Each of these visual keepsakes tells a story, with the Secretariat card providing a head-on racing view of Big Red, the Ron Turcotte card capturing the Hall of Fame rider at Churchill Downs after winning the 1973 Kentucky Derby, and the Penny Chenery card portraying a quiet moment at the barn between the “First Lady of Racing” and her chestnut champion. The most recent addition in our Panini Golden Age Trading Card series recognizes  Secretariat’s barnmate Riva Ridge, a champion in his own right. As a juvenile in 1971, the speedy bay colt swept nearly every major East Coast stakes, winning 7 of 9 starts and earning a 2-year-old championship. Riva Ridge’s winner’s circle visits continued throughout 1972, highlighted by his impressive front-running victories in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes. Riva Ridge was known as “The Horse who Saved the Farm,” with all his early success providing the means for the Meadow to continue to operate, ultimately paving the way for Secretariat and his 1973 Triple Crown glory.

And for the more discerning collector, we have a small inventory of the distinctive Golden Age “Headlines” edition card, reminiscent of a vintage newspaper front-page cover story. These scarce trading cards feature the news “Secretariat Wins Crown” above a black and white period image of the champ in his record-breaking Belmont Stakes performance, and the descriptive importance of this historic moment on the reverse side.
