This is the time-honored collectible produced each year by Churchill Downs. The 1973 glass is always in great demand because of  a) its significance in relation to Secretariat’s (still-existing) record-breaking Derby victory, and b) its scarcity in terms of how many were produced as the 99th running was the last year that julep glasses were only made available to Derby attendees at Churchill Downs and not offered by retailers outside the track premises. Our limited inventory emanates from their original case packing with no chips, stains, or fading.

The 1973 glass portrays the Twin Spires at Churchill Downs with red and green lettering on a frosted background. As in the tradition of all the Derby julep glasses, the backside shows every prior Kentucky Derby winner (including the controversial winner of the 1968 Kentucky Derby winner Dancer’s Image with the wording “Trophy in Litigation.” The courts would disqualify Dancer’s Image from his victory and his name is now stricken from the present day Derby glasses).
