Holly Hill Duo with Secretariat, Hand-Signed by Charlie Davis

Description

This evocative photo captures Secretariat with the Meadow Stable’s exercise rider Charlie Davis and groom Eddie Sweat in the serene atmosphere of a misty morning gallop that every race-tracker knows so well. The beautiful image is a testament to the dedication of these two indispensable horsemen and the powerful connection they shared with the big red champion they loved.

Affectionately known as the “Holly Hill Boys” going back to their roots in Holly Hill, South Carolina, each of these consummate horsemen’s wealth of experience and intuitive awareness of a horse’s individual needs and nature were vital components attributing to the success of Secretariat and the Meadow Racing Stable. The photo is from the collection of acclaimed Daily Racing Form photographer Ray Woolfe, who chronicled Secretariat throughout his racing career and bears an embossed insignia certifying its authenticity.  Measures 8″ x 10.”

An absolute collectors’ rarity containing the original and distinctive block signature of the late, great exercise rider. Very limited availability, only a few pieces of this photo were ever hand-signed by Mr. Davis.

The image at left shows the photo in a ready-to-hang archival double-matted classic black wood frame display with engraved brass halter tag nameplate. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and available on a first-come basis only.
